Sector overview

Quality assurance for government & defense contractors projects

Government and defense work raises the bar on demonstrated process maturity and quality management. Solicitations and primes increasingly ask for a CMMI maturity level or a certified QMS — and evaluators expect evidence, not assertions.

Why contractors come to us

  • Solicitations and primes that require or favor a CMMI maturity level
  • ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements flowed down from primes
  • Supplier quality audits by customers that demand objective evidence
  • Tight bid deadlines that leave no room for trial and error

Where bid readiness typically falls short

Process maturity that isn't evidenced

Teams deliver well but can't demonstrate it against a recognized model. A gap assessment shows exactly where current practice meets CMMI practices and where it doesn't.

Quality systems built for audits, not operations

A QMS that exists only on paper fails surveillance audits. We build ISO 9001 and AS9100 systems around how your teams actually work, so evidence is produced by doing the job.

Supplier controls that can't withstand a customer audit

Primes audit their supply chain. We strengthen supplier selection, surveillance and corrective action so a customer audit finds a managed system, not a scramble.

What we deliver

  • CMMI gap assessment, official training and appraisals as an ISACA CMMI Partner
  • ISO 9001 and AS9100 readiness — gap analysis, system design and audit preparation
  • Internal and supplier audits with objective, clause-referenced findings
  • Corrective action (CAPA) support that closes findings at the root cause

Clarifying CMMI vs CMMC

CMMI measures process maturity. CMMC is the DoD's cybersecurity certification program. We provide CMMI and quality management services; we do not provide CMMC assessments.

Common questions

Government & Defense Contractors — frequently asked questions

Is CMMI the same as CMMC?

No. CMMI measures process maturity; CMMC is the US Department of Defense's cybersecurity certification program. We provide CMMI consulting, training and appraisals — we do not provide CMMC assessments.

Do we need a CMMI rating to bid on government work?

It depends on the solicitation. Some ask for a specific maturity level, others favor it in evaluation, and many ask only for a certified QMS such as ISO 9001. A gap assessment tells you which requirement applies to your pipeline and what it would take to meet it.

How long does readiness take before a bid?

Timelines depend on your starting point and target — from a focused ISO 9001 readiness effort of a few months to a CMMI maturity-level path that runs longer. The earlier the gap assessment, the more options you have.
