Contractor quality: quick answers

What is a contractor quality management system?

It is the set of plans, procedures, inspections and records a contractor uses to confirm work meets the contract, drawings and specifications — and to prove it to the owner. On a project it usually takes the form of a Project Quality Plan supported by inspection and test plans, NCR/CAPA and turnover documentation.

Do contractors need ISO 9001 certification?

Not always. Some owners, public agencies and EPCs require it in prequalification; others ask for an ISO 9001-aligned quality system. We help you build the system and prepare for an accredited certification body's audit when certification is your goal.

What is the difference between QA and QC on a construction project?

Quality assurance (QA) is the planned system — procedures, audits and reviews — that prevents defects. Quality control (QC) is the hands-on inspection and testing that verifies the work. Contractors need both, documented in the quality plan.

Overview

Quality management built for contractors

Owners, EPCs and prequalification reviewers increasingly expect contractors to show a working quality system — not a binder on a shelf.

Jags Assurance helps contractors set up and run practical quality management: a Project Quality Management System for each job, an ISO 9001-aligned company QMS, field QA/QC with inspection and test plans, internal and supplier audits, nonconformance and corrective action, and organized project documentation for handover. We work alongside your project managers, superintendents and QC staff so the system fits how your crews actually build.
